Dr Trevor Langley

Trevor is a manager with extensive experience of the Life Science industries gained through Executive Board positions in a number of companies offering products and services. Most recently, the focus has been on commercial roles, bringing together licensing deals, technology transfer, selling and marketing. This is underpinned by a wider experience of general management gathered in high technology companies. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.

Career and Achievements

The early part of his career was spent at Whatman Biochemicals, starting in research and quickly moving into a succession of supervisory and management positions. After taking on the Managing Director role, he turned the organisation into a profitable unit, gaining a Queen's Award for Export in 1980.

In 1982, he set up Imperial Biotechnology with initial funding from 3i, undertaking a number of subsequent fundraisings. Highlights included the conclusion of a strategic partnership with a US food protein company and ultimately, the sale of the company to an international food company.

After a period as Marketing and Sales Director with Huntingdon Research Centre, he formed his own consulting company in 1995, undertaking interim management and consulting in a number of large and small life science companies. This included a four year spell at CAMR as Commercial Director, with direct control of three business units, as well as acting as CEO for two companies spun out of UK universities.

He was a founding member of BioMedical Business Partners in 2002.

Personal Interests

In his spare time, Trevor helps to run his local rugby club and is also a long-term supporter of Manchester City - clearly an optimist!
