Mr Douglas Hutchison

Douglas is a serial entrepreneur, with proven commercial acumen, who has investments in a number of start-up companies in the UK. A team builder and motivator he has ability to influence others. A number of his investments have a life science theme although publishing is an equal area of interest.

Career and Achievements

After an early career in veterinary medicine, he joined Crown Animal Health in a sales management role and from there into managing a venture backed specialist animal health company. In 1990, he founded Veterinary Business Development Ltd, a communications company that he grew into the world’s third largest company in its sector.

Since selling this company, he has invested in a number of start-up companies and currently sits as Chairman or non-Executive Director on seven such ventures and is also on the board of the British Veterinary Association.

Personal Interests

Douglas, when he is not investing in new companies, is heavily involved in charity work in his native Scotland. The latest focus of his attention is the Scottish RFU!
